TERF is an abbreviation for Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist and refers to individuals or groups who reject the inclusion and recognition of transgender people, particularly transgender women, within feminist and women’s spaces. They argue that biological sex should be the primary determinant of a person’s gender and assert that transgender women should not be considered as women.

TERFs often believe that transgender rights and inclusion undermine the progress of cisgender women and perpetuate patriarchy. They may argue against transgender individuals’ access to gender-affirming healthcare, legal recognition of their gender identity, or the right to use public facilities that align with their gender identity.
